Volunteers Wanted!

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UGA is primarily a member-led volunteer organization. Members do much of the work to provide the classes, social events and learning opportunities for all of the membership. Everyone brings valuable life experience to the group and everyone has the talent to help in some capacity.

We invite all members to participate beyond the classroom and experience the enjoyment and personal satisfaction of contributing to our exceptional organization. Beyond just attending classes, this is a great way to meet interesting people in the community.

To volunteer, please use the Contact page and let us know if there's a specific area where you'd like to help. The following committees and activities are in need of volunteers:

• Instructors/Leaders (present a course, lead a trip or activity)
  
  
• Curriculum (finds instructors, develops and schedules courses)
  
  
• Class Facilitators (finds and assigns students to assist the instructors)
  
  
• Fund Raising (works to develop funding sources beyond our membership fees)
  
  
• Interest Group Chairs (provides coordination for our interest groups; besides helping with existing groups, we're always looking for volunteers to start and lead new ones)
  
  
• Membership (manages membership records works to recruit new members)
  
  
• Member Services and Social Events (organizes social and special events for the membership, assists other committees as needed)
  
  
• Public Relations (seeks opportunities to enhance public recognition for the organization via advertising and speaking engagements)
  
  
• Publications (produces our newsletters and other documents)
  
  
• Email newsletter (produce and publish our new e-mailer to members and prospective members)
  
  
• Registration (organizes the registration process and manages the fall and spring registration events)
  
  
• Travel/Study (coordinate our trips away from the Athens area)

Teach for OLLI

We welcome all types of instructors - from those who have taught in a university or other educational institution to those with little or no prior teaching experience who have a particular art, hobby or interest to share.

Some of our instructors have reported their OLLI classes have been the richest teaching experiences of their life. Our students are intelligent, focused and engaged. They typically bring a rich experience to the classroom that is not present in younger learners. For instructors, it's also more enjoyable to teach without grades, homework and exams.
